We have had a fabulous February!

Our new Website is up and running! Thank you for your patience as we get our new calendar updated and ensure we iron out any glitches or missing information.

Along with the least blue dot days we have had in a long time, we also enjoyed friendship, anti-bullying, anti-racism and inclusive initiatives as part of our programming this year.

Ms. Gibson and Mr. Dewsbury continue to run our Dare to Care Program as part of Friday assemblies for the whole school and we also continue to enjoy learning about and understanding Black History Month and anti-racism throughout the school. Students loved handing out their Friendship cards and sharing Random Acts of Kindness throughout the school. A big thank you to the School Council Staff Appreciation Committee who prepared beautiful and delicious treats for our staff, they were much appreciated!!

Students took part in field trips to Telus Spark (Grade 4), Astrodome (Grade 6), Outdoor walks to Bowness Park (grade 1 and 5) and everyone this month are enjoying the Calgary Opera brought to them virtually and supported by Mrs. Draper our Music Specialist. Our Grade 3 students were also excited to have their ‘It’s a Crime Not to Read’ Pizza Party at the local Calgary Public Library and Grade 4s were inspired by their Marty Chan virtual writing residency which was shared at our February School Council meeting and was made possible by School Parent Fund-raising Committee! Pizza was also enjoyed for Healthy Hunger this month, as well as our Popcorn, Mom’s Pantry and 50/50 Raffle fundraisers!

We were sad to see our Facility Operator (F.O) Mr. Melke, leave us for new adventures and welcome our new F.O Mrs. Shen to our Belvedere Parkway Community. We also said goodbye to one of our Lunchroom Supervisors Mrs. Wilhelm, and welcome Ms. Jordan in her place. Many of you may already know Ms. Jordan from ‘Kids Love Bowness’ before and after school program!

Teachers attended a successful Teachers’ Convention and brought back many exciting ideas and strategies to implement in their classrooms, and students were excited to share their long weekend escapades with their teachers!

Many thanks to families for donating 400 pounds of food for our December Food drive, it was heartening to see so many students supporting our neighbors in need!

Our School Council this month included a School Planning Engagement presentation to parents. This shared information about how the School Development Plan and School Planning, budget, and fees interconnect. Parents are encouraged to complete the School Planning Engagement Survey shared in the School Messenger that went out on February 28, 2024.

Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are fast approaching, so please be aware of dates and times as shown in the School Messenger sent out and on our Website Calendar. Bookings are through family MYCBE Accounts and will be open from March 7, 2024 at 4PM.

We look forward to a Marvelous March!

Best wishes,

Jane Gibson
