BelPark students celebrate their heritage!

Hello! Oki! Danit’ada! Tansi! Aba Wathtech! Bonjour!

Many CBE students were part of the event held in Fort Calgary to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation last Friday, September 29th.

Some of our very own BelPark students were part of that!

We are so proud to recognize Clara, Alyssa and Charlie as being part of this event to recognize the impact and truth of Residential Schools, and to honor their traditions, ceremonial practices and culture of the Indigenous Peoples of Canada.

Such beautiful dancing and regalia! Thank you!

Belvedere Parkway takes its role in Truth and Reconciliation seriously. As such, in alignment with the CBE Education Plan, Belvedere Parkway School acknowledges and supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s (TRC) Calls to Action, and makes the following commitment to action for the 2023-2024 school year:

Belvedere Parkway will engage in task design and cross-curricular activities that respect and embed Indigenous ways of Knowing within the New Curriculum. This will include the use of the land close to us e.g. Bowness Park in the spirit of Calls to Action #63.

For our Orange Shirt Day Assembly students had discussed and completed activities about Truth and Reconciliation. They wrote down what it means to them as well as messages of hope and wishes on paper eagle feathers they brought to the Assembly. These were gathered together in a beautiful display of color, warmth and hope in our main hallway for all to read and share.
